    Hello NewLife 2021

I totally sympathise regarding being on your own.  I have been a single parent of twins since they were 6.  I did it all on my own whilst working full time – I took them to all their activities (swimming, gymnastics, football, dancing, scouts, guides, etc etc) and barely had 5 minutes to myself at the weekend, and we have had a holiday every year (only in a caravan in this country).  What I would say is cherish these years with your children, as my kids are now 17, and hardly spend any time with me at all.  I would love to rewind time to have our Friday night film night with popcorn, stood at the side of the football match, taking my daughter to all her dance rehearsals.  I live in the North West (Cheshire) and would love to meet up with anyone in my area for a coffee.

    xx

    Hello Gingerbread Helen

Yes I am signed up to receive updates for the CMS campaign.

Just to give you an update – last week I had a telephone call with CMS – they could see that my ex husband was playing the system, and appealing every decision in order to delay payment.  The Manager (Maria) that I spoke to told me that she was taking over the case, and she was passing the file to enforcement, who will be able to recover the maintenance payments in various ways, including bailiffs/court action/freezing bank accounts, etc.  However I received an email a few days ago to say that my ex-husband is appealing the decision re: income – FOR THE 5TH TIME!!!!  Despite the promises made to me last week!!   I am absolutely gobsmacked that they have allowed this to happen AGAIN!!!  They know he is a job hopper, they know he is playing the system and yet they allow this to happen again.  I left a message for Maria to call me today, yet I receive a phone call from another “Manager” who says Maria is no longer dealing with the case as it is no longer with Enforcement.  I am on the verge of giving up with CMS as they are not supporting me to recover maintenance payments, yet they are supporting my abusive, controlling ex-husband in allowing him to avoid payments.

    Hello Chubette

It really is frustrating trying to deal with CMS.  Every time I ring them I speak to a different advisor, and the same probably happens to him, that’s why they are letting him appeal every decision – he is basically playing for time/delaying payments – I know he has told the children he isn’t paying me.  The CMS always say “it will go into the arrears pot and you will get it eventually”.  It’s no good sitting in the arrears pot – I need it in my bank account – I have 2 teenagers to feed!!! The CMS told me months ago that they would only change to Direct Pay if he had consistently made payments for 12 months – so why are they now telling him they will look into changing back to Direct Pay when he hasn’t made any payments for over 12 months!!  They also tell me it takes time to set up an Attachment of Earnings Order – I pay these as part of my job, I can tell you it doesn’t take this long to arrange!! Fingers crossed we both get sorted soon xxx

    Hello Mama41

I am currently battling with CMS to recover payments from my ex.  I changed to Collect and Pay over 12 months ago as he wasn’t paying, and since then he keeps asking them to look again at their decision because he thinks it is incorrect.  He has done this on 5 occasions, and is only doing it to delay payments, as he has told the children he is not paying me.  Each time the CMS give him 28 days to provide evidence, then they reply to him and say no change in our decision, then he will appeal it again.  This has been going on for 6 months.   Yesterday I rang CMS and was told he has now asked them to change back to Direct Pay.  Its an absolute joke.
