CMS go off what is earned through HMRC they wont contact her directly for that information. They’ll go through HMRC from the last tax year and calculate how much she earns and how much is given to you. There are also options you can choose on how to get the money from her. I used direct pay (I think) so before her wages hit her account CMS will take said amount from her account and put it directly in your account. This costs £20 to set up and she will have to pay a percentage fee each time and so will you but yours will be 4% which is pennies but I found it was worth it because I didnt have to chase my ex every month for the payment.
