EU Settlement Scheme
Date last updated: 13 October 2021
EU nationals and their family members living in the UK are advised to apply for settled status to confirm their right to live, work, receive benefits and other services in the UK in the event of Brexit.
While the deadline for most people to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme was 30 June 2021, it may still be possible to apply under certain circumstances. See the government’s guidance on the EU settlement scheme for more details.

Single parents needing advice on their benefits entitlements as EEA nationals can contact the Gingerbread single parent helpline for advice.
Help with applying
For help with the EU settlement scheme process we recommend contacting the AIRE Centre (Advice on Individual Rights in Europe). They provide practical support to EU Citizens and their family members to help make EU Settlement Scheme applications.
You can get advice from the AIRE Centre by:
- Phoning the advice line on: 020 7831 4276. Open from Monday to Friday – 10.30am to 6pm.
- Emailing info@airecentre.org
- Book an appointment.
The AIRE Centre also provides application workshops where vulnerable or at-risk EU Citizens and their family members can attend and receive assistance to make an application. They also provide a series of information leaflets on the EU Settlement Scheme which you may find helpful.
