    Hi, there is a benefit calculator on a website I found helpful called Turn2us and this gives lots of useful information after you enter anonymously your income details it requires. There is one on the Gov UK website also.

    I found there isn’t really a bias towards gender of a parent in terms of what support you can receive. It is about what finances you have already and where they are coming from and that’s where there is a gender bias towards ones salary for example. At the end of the day the same support is available irrespective of gender and it really is just about doing the best job you can do as a parent and how you are able to achieve it with the financial and other support means you have available to you. I as a lone parent mother have not experienced any special or specific support for lone parents purely as I’m female, but only as I did the research to find out what I can claim to help me and my child survive. There is no gender criteria to meet.
