Here are the superhero campaigners and MPs who are building a fairer world and a brighter future for single parents.
The 2024 General Election Campaigns Group consisted of 14 passionate single parents from across England and Wales, all united by their commitment to driving real change for single parents and their families. This group was the first of its kind, specifically formed to advocate for single parent issues in the lead up to the 2024 general election.
Nicola is a member of the 2024 General Election Campaigns Group. This group was the first of its kind, specifically formed to advocate for single parent issues in the lead up to the 2024 general election. We are incredibly proud of the work this group has done throughout the year. Their dedication, passion, and commitment to advocating for single parents and their children have been truly inspiring and their invaluable contributions have helped shape a fairer world for single-parent families. Through their efforts, they have contributed to a movement of single parents working together towards a shared vision of greater fairness, equality, and support for all single parents and their children. Their efforts ensure that single parents have a voice and will continue to drive positive change.
Ruth received 2 separate nominations:
‘Ruth founded Single Parent Rights, a campaign organisation to help single parents by fairer inclusion and to add the single parent status to the conditions protected by anti-discrimination laws.’
‘Ruth runs Single Parent Rights and puts so much effort into ensuring single parents are entitled to more and not overlooked by key policy makers. Most recently, Single Parent Rights published policy guidelines for schools which I was able to share with my sons school, this is just one example of the real actionable changes Ruth is working on. I volunteer with the organisation and see the work and dedication that Ruth puts into the making sure single parents are no longer left behind. Her energy and dedication is infectious and we are lucky to have her in the single parent community.’
Our single parent superhero gallery celebrates mums and dads who are smashing everyday family life, have been a friend to other single parents or inspired others with the way they’ve moved on after a break-up.
They say it takes a village to raise a child. So we’re celebrating our single-parent village – the group leaders who bring our communities together, and the employers who are putting family-friendly working policies into practice.
