Single dads
If you’re a single dad, it can be difficult sometimes to find the information that’s relevant to you. You may feel like other single parents view you differently or that you’re left out of the support that’s given to them. All this can make the job of bringing up your children on your own feel very isolating.
However, you are absolutely not alone. Eight per cent of Britain’s 2 million single parents are dads, meaning lots of other single parents have the same concerns as you.
At Gingerbread, we think single dads do a brilliant job of caring for their families, often under very difficult circumstances. We understand that there will be times when you need some extra support that’s more tailored to your situation, and that when you’re dealing with a problem you may find it more helpful to hear how other dads have coped.
That’s why we’ve developed these pages especially for single dads, to give you expert advice and support on the issues that matter to you.
Use the links on the left to get the information you need, or get to know other single dads in our free online forums. If you’d like to meet other single parents like you in your local area, check to see if there’s a Gingerbread group near you, or why not start your own?
If it doesn’t work for you, it doesn’t work for us
Gingerbread works hard to make sure the information we give is relevant and useful for single parent families. We’d love to hear what single dads think of these pages – especially if you think we’ve missed something you’d particularly like to know about.
