Hi I’m sorry to hear your news.  I don’t know the answer to your question but would advise speaking to Job Centre or benefits direct as they will tell you what you will be entitled to.  Also UC is not that much so I doubt it would have much, if any, impact on your assets and some more information here.  Money and property when you divorce or separate: Get the court to decide – GOV.UK 

I didn’t apply for benefits until long after separation which left me in debt  and my ex is still not selling the house to release my share.

Hi Yoga I’m sorry to hear you are having such a tough time.  I really relate to what you are going through.  I have no family close by and don’t know any other parents of young children as I’ve moved away from the town I lived in with my ex.  Are there any parent and toddler groups near you could get to – just to get a break and have some adults to talk to?  It will get better – for us both!  Be kind to yourself
