    If you make a formal visitation agreement. You wouldn’t need to worry as much about him not turning up to see them. If/when that happened it would be him breaching the agreement. Then the ball is in your court so to speak. If you felt there was a safety concern then you could ask for supervises visitation. Or even asking for him to get himself reassessed. As the main carer for your children you have more say than you think. I would speak to gingerbread and see what assistance/advice they can give you.

    I’m currently going through similar. But in my case my wife has left. even as a single parent, if you have main custody/care for your children Universal Credits will be able to help. Once you get somewhere to call your own, they can top up wages to help with childcare costs and rent payments. I would put in a application for UC straight away as this all takes time to set up.
