Thank you for the replies – I have spoken to CA and apparently rights and responsibilities are separate to child maintenance so technically he should be paying and this would not give him any rights over the child.
I will seek legal advice though as I am still concerned that he could in future use child maintenance payments as a way to show he was interested and involved in her life.
