Applying for a grant

As a single parent, you can apply for a grant from a charity if you’re on a low income and struggling with money. Grants don’t have to be paid back, and they won’t affect your benefits. They can be used for one-off things, like a school uniform, a broken washing machine, disability equipment or studying a course. They can also go towards everyday living costs, like food shopping or paying the bills.

What grants can I get?

Your eligibility for a grant will depend on things like how old you are and where you live. Each charity has their own rules for the grants they provide.

You can use the grant finder tool here to see what you might be able to apply for.

This grants search tool is from Turn2us, a national charity which helps people in financial need.
