Gingerbread, the charity supporting single-parent families, is delighted to announce a £30,000 donation from leading global finance company, ICG, following a staff competition to nominate their favourite charities. The generous contribution will help Gingerbread continue its vital work supporting the two million single-parent families across England and Wales.

The donation from ICG will help to fund Gingerbread’s community groups, ensuring that single parents have access to friendship, peer support and solidarity from those in similar circumstances.

Vaila McClure, Head of Communications and External Affairs at Gingerbread, said “On behalf of single parents and Gingerbread, I’d like to thank ICG for their generosity and recognition of the unique challenges that face single-parent families. Donations like this mean we can continue our work to ensure the two million single parents who work tirelessly to provide for their children are supported every step of the way.”

Arman Islam, ICG staff member who nominated Gingerbread, said “Coming from a single-parent family, I recognised all the incredible effort Gingerbread has been making across England and Wales, and wanted to support them in their long-term ambition to make a meaningful difference for families like mine.”

A spokesperson for ICG said “Gingerbread is doing vital work to support single-parent families across the UK – offering practical help, emotional support, and a sense of community. We’re proud to contribute to a charity that empowers parents and helps build brighter futures for their families.”

Single parents continue to face disproportionate financial pressures, rising childcare costs and challenges balancing work and family life. Support from organisations like ICG enables Gingerbread to expand its reach and provide direct support where it’s needed most.
