Our training courses help single parents develop their skills and get jobs that fit with their families. These courses are only made possible by the companies that partner with us and support our work.

Why be a partner on our employment courses?

We are looking for partners across the UK who are passionate about improving the lives of single parent families. In return we offer:

Experience: we’ve been helping single parents into work for nearly a hundred years. Our partnerships last year helped us to support 2500 single parents with work experience, vocational training and sustained employment opportunities.

Quality: Our training is assessment ready, which means single parents can also achieve a recognised employment qualification. In 2015 we achieved the Matrix Standard for our pathway to work service.

Gingerbread was absolutely stunning

Marc Bolland, CEO Marks & Spencer’s, speaking at Marks and Start 10 Year Anniversary, 2015

Success: 94 per cent of those who start a programme with us complete it, and more than half of the single parents we’ve worked with go on to get jobs. This year, each working day we have placed two single parents into a job.

Great calibre of people coming through, really helped my peak recruitment

Store Manager, Home Retail Group (Argos, Homebase)

Tailored: we understand that your needs are unique, so we will work with you to develop bespoke programmes to ensure you get the right talent joining your workforce. You will also get access to our expert advice and membership, which provide single parents with the support and knowledge to succeed.

Not only have I got a job out of it, but it has made me proud of myself and what I have achieved

Nyree, Gingerbread participant

Credible: employers know that they can trust us to provide enthusiastic, talented and ready to work candidates. Our partners have included a wide range of organisations from Marks & Spencer’s and Nando’s, to Charter Housing and Barclays.

Impactful: our programmes provide tangible social impact; 48 per cent of single parents report improved self-perception and ability to progress, and close to 60 per cent feel less isolated.

This has been positive for me as a person. I enjoy going to work and interacting with people – my confidence has increased and I’m able to better provide for my kids

Simon, Gingerbread participant
