I’m working from home (6 hours a day) and trying to homeschool too (5 hours). Every day I cook, clean and do general home duties too as does every other single parent. My ex husband refuses to help out with having our son, only every other weekend Friday night to Sunday afternoon. He won’t even have him in the holidays! I’m struggling and I need to know if anyone else is experiencing this and what I can do to get more help from my son’s dad.
Hohoho. My kids'(4 of them) dad sees them aprox 4 hours most Sundays. No holidays. You’re in good company.
What you could do? That’s a difficult one bc I’ve learnt that you can’t usually make someone do something that they don’t want to do.You could appeal to his better nature(if he has one),you could tell your son to ask( if that’s what He want),you could threaten him,you could disappear while hes with him 1 day so he’s stuck with him,you could try a direct and amicable conversation explaining your needs and expectations, you could try a mediator if that’s not poss. That’s all I can think of.It’s very difficult & I feel for you.
Unfortunately there is nothing you can do about dad only having his son every other weekend. Hopefully your son will be able to go back to school soon before easter hopefully. It could be worth an email/text asking if he could have your son 1 or 2 evenings a week for a few hours . However this would only work if u live within a short distance from each other and would also be problematic if he works . You could also ask if he could have him during the feb half term / easter half term a few days extra as he could book it off from work as holiday.
