    Hi all

I did a search before posting this, so apologies if it has been covered before.

When I got divorced the court stated, as part of our full and final settlement, that I should pay all of the costs of my twins until they were 18. I have happily done this, no problem, and they live with me 365 days a year as their mother has moved away. They are very soon to be 18 and I can’t establish what I should be requesting from my ex to support 50% of the ongoing costs until they move out – AND – how I get her to pay.

All I have found is the govt site that says she should be paying £84 per week. But this isn’t anywhere near the true cost of mainaining 2 bedrooms, utilities, travel, insurance, food and household costs, phones, etc, etc, etc. So, have a missed something??? She has a good job and walked with over £500K in cash, so it is not as if she can’t afford it, but is refusing to pay anything.

    Thanks

As previous poster has advised Child Maintenance is based solely on income.  Assets such as property, savings, etc., are excluded unless they too produce an income.

Once twins are 18 they will be eligible to claim Job Seekers Allowance if they are not working.
