hey I’m a 25 year old single mum with a 2 year old whose currently living at home with my parents . My dad has given me until September to move out as it is too much stress on him and my mum as my 2 year old is quite a handful. I’m looking to move over to London for a better life for me and my son but was wondering would I be entitled to housing benefits/ loan parenting etc? If anybody would know anything about this I would really appreciate it

    thanks a mill

I would urge you not to take the grass is greener view of London!

unkess you had an excessively well paid job even with benefits – if you got them which I think you would – youd ultimately end up in extortionately priced housing in a crappy rented small home in a less desirable area! Having to pay the difference in rent and benefit whichvwould be hundreds out of the benefits. Also once child is three you’d have to be working.

    hate to be that blunt!

My advuce is go to your local council explain you’re being evicted and join their housing lists.

Dont underestimate the value of family living close by either. You’ve always had then to fall back on not having would see youveith nonsupport and paying circa a thousand gbp a month in childcare if working full time.
