    Hi

I’m a single Mum of an autistic son.  I work in admin part-time, as really can’t be flexible enough to hold down a full time job and juggle my caring responsibilities.

He see’s his Dad every other weekend, but that’s really the only support I have (and we are deffo not best buddies!).

I don’t love my job and would really like to retrain – I have been just mainly “Mummy” for nearly 8 years now and would really like to do something for myself.  I’d love to give up work and re-train (maybe psychology/counselling), though have no idea how or where to start looking.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

Financially, I am in a decent position between my wage and tax credits – but I would hate to leave work and not be able to provide for him like I have been – so money has to be a deciding factor.

    Any info/advice greatly appreciated.

    Have you found more information?

You can speak to your local college or university

I had been studying a degree and there’s lots of help and financial support including a child care grant etc
