Hi, I am a new single parent with a 7-month old. I returned to my main civilian job when my son was 3 months old as I couldn’t afford to be off work for too long, and my other job is with the Army Reserve, which I receive a small amount of maternity pay for. I can’t afford to end my maternity leave with the Army as the pay I would receive for work would be less than the additional childcare needed for drill night and weekend training. And to be honest, I’m not sure how viable being in the Army Reserve will be as a single parent once my maternity leave does end, so it will no longer be much of a supplement income. The tax-free childcare scheme seems to only take into account that you have one job, and that you cannot apply for the scheme if you are on maternity pay. However, I am working full-time and meet the earning requirements to be eligible for it from a civilian perspective. I was just wondering if anyone had had success applying for the scheme while having two jobs but being on maternity pay for one?
