Some advice pls ? I’m currently receiving esa and I’m in the support group. My daughter who is 17 and starting full time employment as an apprentice for one year in a couple of weeks . I’m not on universal credit at the moment . Will this be classed as a change of circumstance and trigger it for me to go onto universal credit . I know I’ve got to phone child benefit and child tax but I was just wondering

No I don’t believe this will require an automatic move to uc.

youll obviously however lose a significant amount of income as will lose the ctc, cb and child allowances. Also the threshold for tax credits as a single person is different.

Given that, I’d suggest talking to someone with expert knowledge of esa and comparing if you transferred to uc what you’d receive. However most people receive significantly less on uc. So don’t just change.
