Im a mother orf a 5 month old baby. I share rent with my partner. My family don’t live here and haven’t been enough here to say I have close friends to support.

Suffered a lot of depression during pregnancy until today and the continue harm from my partner made me decide a separation.

However, my child is a very high demand baby, and with nobody around looks like mission impossible. As well I’m worried about loosing my career on Engineering

I wonder if it is possible to keep being a professional while single parent. My company closed due to Covid before ending my maternity leave so I am on UC. Now I am on top of everything trying to find a job.

Will I be able to have any extra monetary support from the government? What about housing? What about coming back to work as single parent? How can I manage to be a single parent with a needy active baby that wakes up every two hours and poorly naps?

    Hi Marie82

I’m Michelle one of the Moderators here.  I though it might be helpful for you to have a look through some of the Gingerbread info pages.  Here’s are some links to  info that might be useful to you:

    Working | Gingerbread

You and your child’s wellbeing | Gingerbread

If you’re not working | Gingerbread

If your child is under 5 | Gingerbread

….  I thought I’d add these 2 links that may also be helpful too:

APNI -The Association for Post-Natal Illness provide support to mothers suffering from post-natal illness. 0207 386 0868

Pandas – offer support for every parent or network affected by perinatal illness. 0808 1961 776

I hope that helps a little

    Kind regards
