Hi. Am thinking of starting my own gingerbread group in my local area cal Town as there are no groups near to me. Just wondered if anyone has done this and if it’s a simple easy process to go through? Any tips on places I could use for my group and ideas as to what other people do in their groups

Hello I’ve a similar notion where I live. in the past i drove over twenty miles to a single dad’s group in newcastle to learn it was it’s last day as the dad whom had set it up was moving on with their child out growing original need making me think i ought to do the same.

it’s anxiety provoking. It starts with a venue and sourcing costs, was thinking to hire a hall/room at church/community centre and take from there with own toys/colouring materials and ask local surestart to help advertise/check out ideas around safety. Thinking to trial for a few sessions money dependent. To see if any interest. Will let you know how i get on.

Although I’ve not attended any yet there seem to be loads via Meetup.  The platform seems to be geared for that kind of thing, and a lot of the hard work seems to already be done already due to the nature of its design.  I’m on there for regular pub quiz events and the like and it works great for that and it’s good to just meet new people etc but from what I can see on there the single parenting groups seem to be quite successful.

Hi there, as well as being one of the moderators on the forum,  I am also responsible for all friendship groups within Gingerbread.  If you are interested in starting your own group, please email me at @gingerbread.org.uk">groups@gingerbread.org.uk and I can arrange to have a chat with you regarding this.

    Hope to hear from you.
