I am a single mum of two 11 year olds. For the past 6 years I have worked as a freelancer because of the flexibility it offers around raising childrem . The downside of this is that working from home can become lonely and lately I feel that it is impacting my mental health (anxiety). I have a small group of friends that I see some evenings (we visit each other houses) but i would like to connect with new people and have some stimulating conversations. The only time I could do this would be during a weekday when the children are at school so I looked for meetups such as book clubs online but I found that they all take place in the evenings or weekends.
Does anyone know of a club or activity or something similar that takes place during school times? I am based in Southeast London but i could travel around London. Has anyone else encountered this issue?
I used to do a couple of volunteer sessions at the Horniman Gardens near Dulwich. Or have you looked at city farms or local libraries or museums? Most welcome volunteers because council budgets have been cut back. Maybe check out local colleges for short daytime courses like creative writing or jewellery design.
LC2018 I have thought of hotdesking but my main worry is that I need privacy at work because I am on the phone often and some discussions are confidential. Some days it’s only admin though and maybe I would like to give it a try. If you recommend any particular space, would you mind sending me a pm?
