    Hi all,

I’m currently going through separation and I am a single mum in full-time education.

I was fully dependent on my husband for the financial side of everything! Currently in the process of sorting Universal credits and everything I can as my only income is from the maintenance loan from Student Finance England. Can anyone advise me or share any experiences with UC and how they calculate what I’m entitled to receive? I looked at my UC account and it was shocking, shoving that my first payment will be big fat £0! This is in regards to my parters income (which I haven’t got) and educational bursaries (the only one being the maintenance loan from student finance). They haven’t calculated what support I can receive towards my housing costs as I’m still struggling to gather the evidence required (as I have to change all the bills just in my name).

Sorry if the message doesn’t make much sense, I am just super worried about my finances and how I can keep a roof over mine and my little one’s heads and provide for my little boy while being in full-time education!

    Dace
