    Hi All;

    I’m turning 30 this year and have only one close mummy friend. I didn’t attend much mums groups when my son was little due to the breakdown of the family and was on survive mode.

    I am looking to extend my support network and meet single parents in and around my area but need some advice on how?! Apart from my 9-5 job and spending time with family at weekends it’s difficult to find places to strike up relationships with other parents. My son goes to nursery but either no one can see or speak to you with masks on during collection periods or most parents seem to already know each other – argh!

    any advice would help !

    Hi Courtney Rae,

    I hope you are alright?

    Maybe ring the ‘Gingerbread helpline’, they may know of anyone who may be setting up a group, or maybe you could. Gingerbread can campaign to get members in Scotland. Once people know, I’m sure the group will develop. Health professionals can refer to potential single Mum’s and Dad’s.

    That is how I became known to this charity, via my social worker, and health practitioner. Local children centre’s – put a poster up with the gingerbread support.

    I hope that helps, Thanks Katherine

    I live in London

    We as the gingerbread community are always ready to talks to you, day or night!

    Have a good night!

    Thanks Katherine

    What doesnt kill you makes you stronger 😀 . Friends is good. Moved here 5 years ago from England for a different way of life. Its beautiful and laid back but quite difficult getting to know people.
