Hello everyone, I am planning of moving ASAP, I recently quit my job and in the process of getting another. How can I get emergency social housing when the relationship has affected me mentally and I have voluntarily left our marital home ? I have a little one and it is in out best interest that I leave. Any help will be deeply appreciated.

    Hi AAaaa

I’m Michelle one of the Moderators here.  I’ll paste some links below to information and services that might be able to guide you through this situation.  There’s some information that might be relevant here within the Gingerbread site at the following link:

    Homelessness | Gingerbread

You could also get in touch with Shelter who have expertise on housing:

Shelter –  Expert Housing Advice. Contact expert housing advisers either online, or by calling the free national emergency helpline or your local service team. 0808 800 4444  https://england.shelter.org.uk/get_help

The Single Parents Helpline may also be able to guide you through your options or provide signposts to other agencies who could help:

    Gingerbread Single Parent Helpline – Freephone 0808 802 0925

    Opening hours:  Mon 10 – 6, Tues 10- 4, Wed 10 – 1 & 5 – 7, Thurs 10 – 4, Fri 10 – 4  They can be busy so callers can expect to wait up to 20 minutes before the call is answered

Refuge also offer accommodation in some circumstances so it may be an option to get in contact with them also, here’s their page on housing and I’ll also leave the link to their Helpline:

Help with housing | Refuge National Domestic Abuse Helpline (nationaldahelpline.org.uk)

Refuge: National Domestic Violence Helpline – Provide specialist support to women, children and some men escaping domestic violence and other forms of violence. Freephone 24-Hour National Domestic Abuse Helpline: 0808 2000 247 or visit http://www.nationaldahelpline.org.uk (access live chat Mon-Fri 3-10pm)

    I hope those are helpful

    Kind regards

    Michelle
