    Hi! I’m new to Gingerbread.

I’m 26 years old, and i’m 7 months pregnant. Ive been with my boyfriend for almost a year now. This took me by surprise actually. I didnt plan this, but I also didnt want to have an abortion. My boyfriend is a quite hardworking man. We have our ups and downs like every couple, but he’s looking forward to being a father. Thing is, we aren’t married — my decision, mostly cause I’m still getting to know him.
But I’m struggling with this question and I honestly don’t know what to do. Should my baby girl take his last name?. Like i said, we aren’t married, and I don’t know what to do when it comes to this question.

I’d love to hear some opinions on the matter!

    Thanks!

    Hi there,

I had the same issue when my daughter was born, so decided to double barrel her surname. It made things so much easier doing it this way.

    hope that’s helps.

I wasn’t with the father of my child and so I gave the child my surname. If you’re not sure, then giving the baby your name, it can be easily changed if your relationship stands the rest of time. Giving baby his name, if you don’t, it’s highly likely the baby will always have a different name to you..  Harsh, maybe but true 🙂
