I’m a single parent and have a 12 month old little boy. He goes to bed at night ok but keeps waking in the night crying. He’s ok when I go into him, but as soon as I leave the room he starts crying again. No matter what I do he wont stop. The only solution I’ve found so far is to camp on his bedroom floor lol. Does anyone have any other suggestions so that maybe I could get a full nights sleep in my own bed pleeease? Xxx

    Hi,

I sympathise with you as i had the same problem with my son as a single dad many years ago, now he’s 40 and i’m 65 ! I used to lay with him until he fell asleep. It usually took between 30 mins to an hour and sometimes he seemed asleep but as soon as i got up he’d say “where are you going” But he was like it from birth. During the first year with his mum there and with me after she left. He was about 3 before hed settle on his own.Maybe it’s the insecurity of having just one parent and worrying they’ll lose that parent too. I’m sure your child will settle on his own eventually and i hope for your sake it’s not too long away.

    Best wishes,

    David.
