Hi I’m a single parent, self employed & running at a loss. I receive HB, Working Tax credits. Since the cap on council tax it’s left me having to find an extra £150 a month which I can’t afford as already struggle finding the extra £348 a month for rent. I’ve been told that I should apply for income based Jobseeker’s Allowance which I think it’s now called Universal Credits. I really don’t want to go down this route & I’m hoping that in the coming months my business will pick up. I really don’t want to have to attend the job centre every two weeks to sign a piece of paper or attend any courses. I enjoy what I do but aware that I’m financially struggling. Any advice very much appreciated.

How are you getting on now? I can see this is an old thread but the new forum is so bad it’s hard to find anything x
