I’m new to all this but getting desperate. My son was recently diagnosed with dyslexia – private assessment as he wasn’t getting support from school.

I initially met with his teacher who made all the right noises about the recommendations on his report but since then I am not aware of anything being put in place to support him  I have chased up some of the recommendations but now I just feel lost. I hate to think of my son struggling with all that he finds challenging.

Hi Doris. Them at all sounds incredibly frustrating for you and that school perhaps are calming off the situation…perhaps because it is nearly the summer break. It may be someone else’s problem come September. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/dyslexia/diagnosis/

Here is a link with some tips for receiving support. Perhaps a GP appointment will open up channels of support for you.  You could approach a family liaison worker or request occupational health assessment through social services yourself. Good luck

    Beth
