I’m feeling really anxious right now about how I’m going to cope with the school closures and trying to work for the next few weeks and/or months.  Not managed to find any information about will the government help those who need to stay home with their children because if I don’t work & I’m not ill I won’t have any money coming in.  Anyone have any thoughts on this?

No advice but in the same situation.

Single parent, just started a new job 3 weeks ago. Part time school hours now today schools have closed and I have no childcare.

My mum would usually help out but she falls into one of the at risk categories that should isolate for 12 weeks so I don’t want to send my child their and put her at risk especially as I would be working in a building with around 200 people daily.

Spoke to work today and their guidance was that parents can take dependency leave but that should be for a day or 2 to arrange childcare.  I currently claim working tax credits and need to work at least 16 hours p/w to do so.

Currently have no idea how I’m going to proceed.

    Hi all

If you have questions around claiming benefits you may wish to talk to our advice team to explore your options.  Here are their details.  As you can imagine they are very busy currently so please get yourself a cup of tea whilst you are waiting to get through.

I wish you all the best, Justine
