Hello, I’m new here, so sorry if this has been discussed before.

I have a direct pay child maintenance agreement with my ex husband. He has gone onto 1/2 pay at his work because of being unwell. Due to this he’s reduced the child maintenance payment by slightly more than 1/2. Is this the correct procedure or is CMS supposed to decide on a reduced amount? I’m not sure how I’m going manage with the lower amount. I am on my own with the kids whereas he’s got a partner and also her mother living with them, so is financially more stable than I am.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Income would need to increase or decrease by 25% for maintenance to be recalculated. This is according to the child maintenance service.
