EricaTParticipantI want to take my 8 year old son abroad this summer, can anyone recommend single parent holidays as I do not want to go on my own. Thanks.
LadyTParticipantHi,
This is my first post as need a bit of support from those who understand raising children as a single parent. I went on our first single parent holiday last year and I have to say it was fabulous. W met some lovely people whom we keep in touch with. The company is called Acorn Adventures, based in Stourbridge in the West Midlands.
Im just browsing before I really feel brave enough to contribute or share but as I can offer a recommendation I thought I would post for you.

DtokesParticipantHi I ve taken my children on haven holidays abroad with so many fun activities for kids it’s easy to make friends. Good luck.
Jason77ParticipantHi Erica/all,
I have a daughter the same age, ski holidays are great… If you are both in lessons you will meet loads of like minded people, always been a really positive experience for me. Going again in a few weeks with my daughter in fact.
Skiing is great fun, something you can do together and enjoy a shared interest, also meet new people and have a laugh… Everyone is really sociable!
Can also be done on the cheap if on a budget. If not that, maybe some other type of child friendly activity holiday?

YoliParticipantHey there I have been a single Mum for 4 years now and my Son is now 8. I take him away (just the 2 of us) somewhere different every year. At first I was going to use an organisation dedicated to single parent holidays but then braved it and decided to just do it myself so now I just book a normal holiday package through Thomas Cook or Thompson etc and we have been to Crete (amazing for kids but lots of mosquitos!), Algarve (not as appealing) and the best of all Mayorca which was amazing and our favourite holiday to date. On all holidays we have had there have been other single parents we have met up with and made friends with so I hope you manage to enjoy your holiday whichever way you decide to do it. Although I am pretty brave and enjoy my own company I now know that we will always make friends on all our holidays. We are going to Tenerife in April and Menorca in July and cannot wait. Good luck and if you need any info etc just let me know. Us single parents are awesome!
Loulou173ParticipantHello, I like you considered a single parent holiday, but I just braved it. I’ve taken all 3 to centre parcs and haven. Last year I stepped it up and took my 2 youngest abroad, we had that much fun it wasn’t an issue being a single parent. I talked to couples, single parents and families whilst there and by the pool whilst the boys were swimming. I’ve just booked to go to Majorca, bog standard package deal and I know i won’t be the only single parent. Hope this helps.
EricaTParticipantThank you, I’ll have a look.
Hope you are OK.
Xx
EricaTParticipantThanks Jason, hope you had a fun trip. I’ve finally got around to booking a holiday for the summer, might think about skiing for next year.

EricaTParticipantHi,
Thanks so much. I’ve booked a holiday in Spain in August and hoping to do a short city break as well.
Hope you have fun too.

Dreaming…ParticipantHey! We are going to Lepe in May with Campmates. They have started doing holidays abroad now too, so maybe worth a look. I am a bit dubious… but I think it will be great for my two children to be around other children that are just with their Mummy’s or Daddy’s.. Also its only down the road so I figured if it wasn’t our bag we could just come home lol. Happy holiday hunting!
Lawsn2kidsParticipantHi I want to take my children away (8 and 10) but their father won’t give me permission we all have the same surname has anyone travelled with their children without fathers written permission??
mynameParticipantI travelled with my son to Spain, I did have his father’s permission in a letter I took with me, and I also took his birth certificate, but I wasn’t asked for any of these things at any point, we have the same surname.
I do know that sometimes people have not had that easy a time of it though…
