I’d really like to hear from any single parents from the Somerset area. I’m really struggling at the moment and would really benefit from chatting to people and hopefully meeting with other people or groups.
I’m Justine one of the moderators. Thank you for getting in touch with the forum. It can be a useful way of connecting with other single parents. Hopefully it won’t be long before you start chatting to people. In the meantime you can go to the website and search on find a group. https://www.gingerbread.org.uk/community/single-parent-groups/groups/
Just put in your area and hopefully there will be a Gingerbread group close by.
If you also need some help or advice, please call our Gingerbread Helpline:
Hi Westernchampion! It’s a while since you posted your message. Hope you’re doing okay and found that some support came to you after you posted, sometimes just asking for help opens up possible sources.
I relocated to Mid-Somerset from London with my 7yr son a couple of yrs ago. It’s a friendly place, I love the rolling countryside and more relaxed pace of life (clichés abound!).
I am in the Northampton area and thinking of moving to Somerset next year. I had little luck trying to get together with other single parents in this latitude so it will be lovely to hear and meet you all next year!
Anyhow, I am a single mum to a 5 year old little cub and we love the outdoors, although the rain and cold combination is not really our cup of tea!
I hope you have now an easier time… we all know what is like to be a single parent. For us it has been a very troubled time for the past 2 years, as we moved from the other side of the globe to Europe again. Not knowing anyone in the area was hard and it will be again when we move next year!
Hopefully this forum will help connecting people that can help and understand this unique experience of being parents!
I will look for you next year! Keep calm (like that is possible) and hopefully everything will be ok.
Hi Pam, lovely to hear from you. Keep us posted about when you move to Somerset. I hope you find to to be friendly and welcoming when you get here, I have. I understand the stress of moving- we moved from London a few yrs ago, via 5 moves in the space of 2 yrs whist I was training in Sussex, not good. But now we live in a lovely little place with a garden and are settled, it feels wonderful! I hope you find this too. Do you know anyone in the area?
