Hello,
I’m sure you get a lot of the same questions so I apologise in advance if this topic has already been discussed.
I’m currently in the early stages of pregnancy with a due date of 15th December. At the moment I work full time and live in a house share in Bristol.
When my tenancy is due for renewal in September I will no longer be able to stay in my current housing due to having a baby. Prices in Bristol for a 1/2 bed apartment are around £650 – which will be the full amount of my maternity pay when the baby comes.
I have looked at online benefits calculators but everything says I won’t be entitled to claim for any financial help when the baby arrives, including housing support. Is this right?
As it stands I feel financially pushed into a corner to have a termination when it is something I don’t want to do. But if my rent and bills is more than my maternity pay and I have no help from the state I’m worried I’ll have no other option.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Jody
