I’m a single parent of two children. I’m a key worker I work at a nursing home. The school is full and can not take my children.
The company I work for has refused to pay me the 80% of the government pay for contracted people.

    Hello.

Childminders are allowed to take the children of key workers.

Why don’t you go on council website this weekend and see if you can find a sympathic child minder. I say that because my one is going to school and child minder is still open for business. The school has to understand that you are still working. Good luck and have faith it will be OK xxx

You can keep child tax credits for 8 weeks as this is a temporary situation, you can then contact tax credits in 8 weeks who have said they will have more information by then.

If you receive housing benefit you can contact your local council to have this adjusted to your current earnings so that you get a higher rate and a council tax rebate. If you don’t you can start a new claim for this with your local council.

It will be less than you currently earn so if you can find a childcare provider still taking key workers then you may prefer to do that but these are the options if you can’t.

So why don’t you apply for childcare help. I think the school is being  Mean! Can’t you speak to someone senior on Monday or go and see them.

I have emailed the principal, the spaces are full. The childminders I spoke to said that I won’t be able to get help through child care expenses because they are both over 4 and not able to get funding for them if you know of another way or that was wrong information let me know. As I said before school full, no spaces it’s not a case of being mean they just might have more nhs front line workers or other people with keyworkers children. The child care is £50 more then I make for a 16 hour shift/ contracted hours. Any other suggestions or is there other government funding child care available

My daughter is 6 years old and I get help with childcare throughout the year. So maybe call HMRC and see what they say.

We were sent letters and we received phone calls asking us what work we do
