Hi Julesbea, I’m 54 with twin 12-yr olds (turning 13 this month!) and I’m in the same position. I don’t have family local, and Covid makes things even more difficult. I still try to plan stuff to look forward to when I’m on my own, a walking tour on meetup.com or a walk in a park with a friend or a Zoom session with a friend in a different country, or some project I want to work on uninterrupted. I read a book that recommended planning one fun thing you WANT to do, and also one thing you NEED to do that will make you feel you’ve achieved/accomplished something. (Sometimes the NEED thing stays on my list for a few weeks.)

    Hi steveb2 and Shell2

I am in Devon and covid has really been trying. Just now back in the office but finding things to do is really hard.

It’s hard to keep yourself motivated and stop the loneliness creeping in.

    Hi 18yrs2kids

Sound advice, I must write that down. I have done a little book with post its to do list but forget to look at it.

I really like your idea on the walking website so I will check that out. I could do that on the weekends that I am daughter free.

Could I have the fb link please.

    Hi Shell

I struggle even when there are people near by, to find someone to look after my boy (doubly so with COVID)

At least my sons clubs are starting to get back to normal.

    How are your kids doing?

Julesbea, there’s a London Social Hiking group on Facebook, and another one called London Ladies Walks & Day Trips, and meetup.com and also nextdoor.co.uk are websites not connected to Facebook.  Hope that helps!
