Notts-dadParticipantHi all,
i am currently going through separation from my wife of 3 years. We put the house on the market today. I’m Struggling to come to terms with this. I know one day things will feel better, but this brings no comfort today.
Does anyone have any information on Nottingham support groups??
RamblinjonParticipantHi Notts-dad.
I can see that your going through a rough time, hang in there it will get easier.
Here’s a link to see if there’s any local gingerbread groups to you:
https://www.gingerbread.org.uk/community/single-parent-groups/groups/
If there isn’t one then perhaps you’d consider starting one, here’s the link:
All the best

RichronParticipantHow’s things going now?
I’ve just bought a house in Nottingham after divorce. Feeling down and just looking for someone or something to cheer me up. I’m actually quite a positive and happy guy but this lockdown thing has left me spending way too much time on my own. Is there a group who meet up? I always say it helps to talk things out with others but I’m beginning to forget how to socialise it’s been so long! 😂
WeenieoneParticipantHi 😁 me too.
I’ve just moved back after being in a horrid relashionship. I have a 3 year old, but no social support network in Notts apart from my parents.
Gets a bit lonely 🙁

steveb2ParticipantHi – Am in Notts too. I have an eight-year-old.
WeenieoneParticipantHi @steveb2 that’s nice to hear, it can feel rather isolating are you parenting alone too? I’ve just started a new job so that distracts Me, I had a few days off, god that was a mistake! Total isolation! 😁😁
steveb2ParticipantHows the new job going?
Yep, I am parenting alone (Wife passed away last year).
Home does seem quiet now that mine is back at school, but the house has never been so clean 🙂
and the dog enjoys all the extra walks he is getting.
I find the isolations, not too bad proving I keep busy (avoiding the sofa and the TV).
How long until you return to work?
WeenieoneParticipantOh Steve, I’m so sorry to hear that. I hope you and your son are OK and coping as well as can be expected. 🙁
I go back tomorrow, thinking that’s a good thing! I was going to have my daughter at home this morning with me, but she wanted to see her friends at preschool so off she went 😁
We have a little doggie too, a Tibetan who’s deaf. I could get off my bum and take him for a walk, but today I don’t seem to want to muster the courage. Give it an hour or so he’ll make me feel guilty and off we will go I’m sure, guess you have toliet yourself have bad days and good.
WeenieoneParticipantTypo! Didn’t mean toliet!! 🙊🙈 meant to let hahaa
steveb2ParticipantIf your daughter is anything like my son, the moment he see’s his friends at school, he is straight off after them, and I don’t even get so much as a wave.
My dog (Barney) has a sad look he gives me guaranteed to make me feel guilty – especially if I am eating and he isn’t. He is a big Labrador, so needs plenty of walking.
Anyway, off your bum and take Tibetan for a walk, you know you will feel better afterwards 🙂
and for the recorded, my house is quite big, so I have three toilets all to myself 😉 (isn’t auto typing excellent!) and more good days than bad 🙂
🙂
