Hi I am newly separated single mum with an 8 month old daughter who has had open heart surgery in July, whilst my daughter was in hospital my husband walked out on us, leaving us with virtually no money. We have managed to get ourselves back on our feet again and am looking forward to new ventures… Be great to chat to you

That’s shocking how can someone do that. Hope your daughter is on the mend. And your probably better of without him. Good luck to you both and glad your getting back on your feet again.

Hope your daughter is on the mend now, it’s horrible when someone you think loves you can do something as horrible as that. I’m glad your getting back on your feet! You can do this! Xx

hi that is so shocking, unreal, I really hope your daughter is on the mend, you sound like you are a positive person, good on you for getting back on your feet again.  I have two girls and have bought them up alone since they  were 2 and 5 which was eight years ago now.

    Hi Twinkle toes,

Welcome to the forum. Your positivity is lovely to see especially after all you’ve been through. I hope your little one is ok now?

Your ex should be thougholy ashamed of himself, absolutely shocking.

Thank you everyone, yes it was a shock to me too lol 😂

My daughter is under a lot of different departments at the hospital as she has many health issues but we are getting there, would love to swap places with her and make her better… She is a determined 8 month old and a very tough little cookie for what she has been through. She has spent most of her life in hospital so her development is a little behind but I encourage her every day, she loves being surrounded by people, a very sociable little girl.

To help her breathing she has to go into a ventilator when napping during the day and at night which she will need until she is about two years old. This was something that I had to be trained on, my parents also joined me to do this as the ex turned down being trained.

She is also on a feeding tube as they are unsure if she has a safe swallow which we are still waiting for assessments of.

Would love to hear your stories and his you managed to get through things.

My daughters health visitor told me about Gingerbread. She said it’s good to get out there to talk and meet other single parents who understand what it’s like. What about you?

I came across gingerbread when I googled and called them for some help over the phone when my husband left us…. There advice was fantastic. I then was sitting here the other day looking on the site and realised that there was a forum, like you say it’s great chatting to other single parents, you realise others are going through similar or same as you.
