Hi Im a single dad with 3 young kids.
I used to find it hard once they were all asleep especially in the early days. However now it’s me time and you need this to recharge your batteries. The first thing I do is making sure everything is in place and order around the house. I then prep their school things ready for the morning.
Then its television time.
Once ds is in bed, I clear up, prep for school & work tomorrow, and then I watch TV or soak in a hot bath, listen to music, have a pedicure or manicure, a glass or wine, sometimes I bake or cook a meal for the following evening.
I’m new to forum but wanted to comment as I was like this for a while. I’ve got 3 boys at home with me. Once they are in bed I get things ready for the next day. To be honest I feel it takes me a little while to come down from the craziness of the evening. It took me ages to get used to the quietness and I still struggle at time’s but I’ve started to try and create some me time. I even light candles sometimes, prob because my ex didn’t like them and now I can ! Definitely something therapeutic in that ! I get on the couch with a throw and watch a box set. .. I nearly said Netflix and chill then but last time I said that my teen gave me funny look ha ! I’m so old !
