Hi. Need some help! Split from husband 6 weeks ago and put in claim for single universal credit as don’t work and have 3 kids. I get carer’s allowance as I look after my mum everyday at her house when kids are at school.

Ex has a good job and will help financially to some degree for now at least . UC are wanting a month by month amount for his salary for august 2020 to now.

Will this affect my claim? I’m so worried how I’ll manage.

Might be a good idea to have a chat with gingerbread helpline about this… If you are separated they shouldn’t be factoring in his wage or maintenance payments.

It could affect your claim if you are still living together & if you have a mortgage or are renting… But this can be quite complex & really needs to be gone through to give any accurate advice.

Did you try the calculators with entitled to?

    – might give you a clearer idea of what to expect, you can input various scenarios without affecting anything, which can help too.

Sorry I can’t give anything more precise, but Gingerbread should be able to talk it through in detail & may know of any extra funds, especially for carers

    Best of luck 🙂
