Me and my partner have a similar situation, we both have children from previous relationships out of town. It’s really upsetting as we don’t know where we stand with this.

I have the same question. My son lives with his Mum, with who I remain on friendly terms, and we have an arrangement where I see him every week and he stays with me every other weekend. It’s his 4th birthday next week. Will I be able to see him?

I’ve just spoken to my step mum as I’m in the same situation my daughters mum lives very far from us and my step mum works for child protection for the social services and unfortunately because of the new measures the only person a child should have contact with is the parent they live with unfortunately but loads FaceTime is essential to keep the child’s moral up and the live out parent moral up she said

They’ve just discussed this on 5 Live after callers asked this question. The answer is that the children should stay where they are now and not go to the other parent. 🙁

I completely understand. Doesn’t make it any easier to comprehend.

Following on from Michael  Goves comments today on the news. Here is the guidance he refers to.

    https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/full-guidance-on-staying-at-home-and-away-from-others/full-guidance-on-staying-at-home-and-away-from-others

    It states:

Where parents do not live in the same household, children under 18 can be moved between their parents’ homes.

I saw Michael Gove’s statement – but what happens when they are 100 miles plus away and not just around the corner? How are you all handling that please?

Usernumber123456 is like to know too. This situation applies and I’m confused how it would be acceptable to drive 200 miles whilst limiting going out! Seems odd to me and I would welcome clearer guidance. Whilst the official guidance advises that children may move between parents houses, I’m not sure it considered where there’s a longer distance between houses.
