my ex wife walked out on me and our daughter when she was 18 months old. She also left her other child with me. She was never really been interested in in contact despite my efforts over the years for my daughter to have a relationship with her mother.
Her mother has had drug addiction’ and has never really been of sound mind. The past 8 months have seen a change and she has proven to have cleaned up and has started to have contact again. A few weeks ago whilst my daughter was in her care I was told that she had been takin drugs, I went and retrieved my daughter from the situation and I stopped contact for one week as I didn’t think my daughter was safe there. In this week my daughter wasn’ distressed or asking for her mother.
My ex wife took my daughter from school last week and is refusing to return her home. She has also blocked my number making it harder to contact my daughter.
I have an emergency court order on Wednesday but I was just wondering if anyone can give me any advice or help as to what I should do and how likely I am to get her back home.
Given that you likely have some urgent specific questions that need answering, and that it is difficult for us to advise without knowing all the details, I suggest getting in touch with the Gingerbread helpline to discuss the situation in detail with an adviser.
Looking forward, there is information on the website about contact arrangements and providing support for your children which may be helpful, but in terms of your immediate concerns and need for advice the helpline is the best source.
