I plan to start claiming CMS payments from my ex-partner in the next 6 months. He also has another baby due in August and I am unsure at this stage whether she will also be claiming CMS payments from him.
Does anyone have any experience of multiple claims on the fathers salery and if there are two claimants does that effect how much you each get?
Anonymous is right if u wait the money you get will be less I don’t know where u stand if neither of the women live with the paying father as I claim cms for my 2 son’s off my ex but he hasn’t got anymore children yet but out of interest i looked on the calculator and it says for 1 child living with him I would loose about £40 I am expecting the children to come sooner rather than later as she is 27 with no kids and he is 34 with our 2 but on the calculator only gives the option for if the children live with him not other children he has and the more nights he has the more u loose aswell my ex only wanted every other Saturday so I don’t loose any as had to be 1 or more a week so 52+ to loose.
At the moment we have a private arrangement however, I should be in a position where I can take a lower amount (equivalent to the CMS payments), I don’t want to claim before then but she is due in August, so I don’t want to claim as be out of pocket, but I don’t want to lose out because there are two claims!
So if he has two kids he doesn’t live with then would we both get the full amount, or would that still pro-rata? I think it might be an idea of contact the CMS….
Because I don’t trust that when number two comes along that he’ll pay the same amount….doubt he’ll be able to afford it so I’d rather claim via the CMS so it’s guarenteed in some way, but im not even sure if that’s the right move!
