    Hi everyone,

As you may have guessed I am from Switzerland ;-)!

Me and my 4 yo son are looking to relocate to the UK, preferably near London but not in London, in the very near future. We have both been granted pre-settled status. Making this move is quite scary and I would love to have any advice, especially regarding money (how much do you think I should have saved before moving? right now I have about £4000)  housing, school (what to look in a school, how do you manage when you work full time, etc), creating a support system, etc.

I have been a stay at home mom for the past 4 years due to different reasons, one of them not being able to access childcare. I used to work in London back in 2015 for a charity. I hope that I will be able to get a job in the non profit sector without much difficulties. My son is going to start school here in Switzerland next week and ideally I would like him to start school in the UK either by November or January next year, does that seem possible? The school system is really different here, you don’t even have to register your child in a school and the only choice is to go public or private (too expensive for a single parents).

Also if any of you have recommendations regarding which area is best to move with a child, I would be really grateful. Also any advice on finding a suitable accommodation, what to look for/what to avoid, etc

The Covid situation makes everything more complicated. We will have to isolate for 10 days, with the possibility of test to release on day 5.

Many thanks in advance for all of you. I’m happy to have found this site, here in Switzerland there isn’t much for single parents (at least not where I live, in big cities it is different)
