As a dad of a 6y old, who I look after by myself, I’m disapointed that mothers are pictured on the site, but I didn’t see fathers. As a charity I think it’s important to represent all kinds of single parents.
By putting pressure on organisations to destigmatise the “single parent” is how change will be reached. Let Gingerbread know how you feel so they can make changes.
Gender doesn’t and shouldn’t come into play when addressing single parent issues. We are all doing our best for our children in whatever capacity we can.
I’m Justine and I’m one of the moderators here at Gingerbread. Thank you for your comments. We really value your insight and these comments have already been forwarded within the organisation. We do have a section in the website that is specifically related to single dads, I will include the link at the end of this post, but if a single dad is feeling underrepresented within our pages then this needs to be explored. We will look into this further and we are grateful you have raised this as a concern.
