im new to this and really need advice. I share looking after my son with my ex. I work and pay her money on the dot every month and she gets benefits too. She works a lot of hours cash in hand in a pub, I am pretty sure this is not allowed undeclared especially if over 16hours a week, but the question is…is it worth me complaining to CMS as in, do they actually investigate it, I know where she works, but it would mean they’d have to properly check it out as I’m sure my word won’t be good enough?
I am trying to achieve fairness. I am not allowed to ask for my wages “cash in hand” enabling me to disguise my income and keeping more money for myself. Benefits are given for a reason I.e. circumstances like work etc. Yes if she was a millionaire, my payments would be the same, and I’m fine with that, but she wouldn’t be entitled to benefits would she? So if the government knew her “real” income, her benefits would be reduced, and rightly so, and this would save taxpayers money ie people like myself who work hard and pay tax and don’t just take. And no I’m not looking for her to be imprisoned, that’s just a dumb statement
