    Hi everyone

To cut a long story short, I moved out of the family home with my 3 children last July, to escape domestic abuse. He refused to leave the home so in the short term we moved in with family and then I was fortunate enough to find a rental. He’s always been the main earner since having children, and now I claim Universal credit and have a part time job.

I’m now looking into divorce proceedings etc, and ideally I would like to be able to move back into the family home with the children. It’s a great location for the schools we are, the right size for growing children, outdoor space etc and crucially, my parents moved 280 miles to be round the corner from that house. They’re now late 70s/80 so the idea was that I’d be able to look after them when the time came. He rarely has the kids and could move anywhere, it makes sense for us to live there.

Please could any one advise how I could do it? I really don’t know my options too well.. I have heard of a mesher order and wondered if this would work? I could probably afford around 50% of the mortgage repayments. Would it make more sense to see if a family member would be prepared to buy him out (it’s a possibility…)..?

I’d rather avoid selling just because I would never be able to find a house that ideal, even for more money than I can afford on my own.

    Thanks in advance
