Hello, Happy New Year! I’m new to Gingerbread. I’m hoping to link up and do some free or cheap activities like museums, parks and days out etc.. I’m a single parent of a 12yr old daughter. I’m working as a Teaching Assistant. My mum passed away with Cancer. She was my go to person when needed someone to talk to. I feel so lonely sometimes especially when feeling down. I’ve realised I have no one. The worst feeling is being surrounded by a big family, but feel alone. I love photography and have huge collection of photos. I loke travelling around the UK taking photos. My daughter loves taking photos too especially nature. I love being outdoors. I also wouldn’t mind meeting weekly for a tea/coffee in my local area Stoke Newington and surrounding area. Spring/Summer will be here soon with lots of things to do in London. I know lots of outdoors places to go as I did this last year with my daughter. If you like to get out without or little spending then it’ll ne great to meet up.

    Hi,

I’ve set up a forum for people who want to meet up in London. I live in Walthamstow, my daughter is 8 (soon!).

I feel lonely as well, a lot of people do.

Maybe we could meet up with the other 2 people who got back to me? One’s a dad from Greenwich and one’s a mum from North London.

    Hi Lucie,

That’ll be awesome! I’m up for it for sure.

Ok, let me try and arrange something. Might have to create another heading in forum so we can all try to agree on a date!

What school do you work at? I’m a teacher in Walthamstow in a primary school.

Cool, that’s good. My work colleague I work with lives in Walthamstow and worked at a primary school there. She’s from New Zealand. When we meet I’ll let you know what school I’m working at. 😉

    Hi guys!

I am from and live in Stoke Newington.  The place is inundated with happy families and babies galore.  So being a lone parent, with no support whatsoever, can be quite isolating.

I used to teach, but had to give it up because of ill health. I’m on the mend, but now my nine year old daughter is going through a difficult time, and with no siblings or cousins, she takes her despair and anger out on me.  Driving me crazy.  So difficult to manage on your own, particularly when your child is being bullied at school and the management use my mental health to distract from the real issues, and you’re lumbered with a narcissistic ex until your child turns 18!

Nonetheless, I still have a smile for others.  It would be nice to meet up for a drink and a giggle.  And I know my daughter always benefits from meeting new children too…

Let me know if your forum is still up and running.

    Cheers
