    Hi

I’m a single mother of 3 kids. I’m.  Currently on maternity leave due to go back to work in April 2020 I will let you know if anybody has ever claimed for the last three months or any advice that can help me with the last three months of maternity as we don’t get paid anything for it. I currently claim working tax credit and child tax credit only for two children.

Just wondered if anybody claimed universal credit while on maternity leave Have been reading up and people are saying that they are worse off on universal credit or if they go on universal credit they won’t be able to go back on child tax credit as it’s merged into universal credit I am so confused I don’t know what to do as I really want to take the whole year off to spend with my child but financially will be a strain for the last three months any advice would be great thank you

    Hi Selena,

You may find it helpful to contact our Single Parent Helpline. We have a team of trained advisers who can help you explore your options. They do get busy and you may have to hold to get through, but calls are free from mobiles and landlines.

Here are the contact details and I hope this helps:

    Alex
