I Lost my Dad…as a child through separation & I lost my dad again as an adult through death.

Now I am a ‘single’ parent through separation in that my daughter lives with her father & as mother I see her weekends. It’s a lonely place.

I feel I am still going through the grieving process for my own dad…it’s a long one. My faith brings me strength but I think it’s important as part of my process that I ‘talk’ with  other parents who have also lost a parent.

It would be great if there were a live online chat for single parents but in the meantime it would be nice to hear others experiences of loss & the grieving process. And parenting.

    Please get in touch.

Hi Tania, I lost my mum a few days after my first daughter was born and it was the most difficult time I have ever been through. You don’t say how long it has been since you lost your father – I would say it took a full year for me to even accept that I wasn’t coping, even though I thought I was.  It’s been just over 4 years for me, and now I am in the midst of my husband leaving for another woman I have never missed her more.

I would recommend counselling to help you process the difficult times you have been, and still are, going through. There are a number of charities offering free assistance but I found the charity ‘Mind’ very good as you can go and speak to someone in person as they have offices all over the country x
