Hello everyone. It’s with a heavy heart I find myself here asking for advice on one of the most difficult situations I’ve found myself in!

Let’s get down to brass tacks.. I wanted my ex to join me at mediation so we could draw up just a simple contact plan, when I pick the kids up, when I drop them off and the days I have them etc so we know we’re on the same page and more importantly have the plan binding so there’s no changing of minds and messing around. The response was predictable – she’s not signing anything and take me to court.

Now, please correct me if I’m wrong but from what I can make out Legal Aid isn’t usually available for the court process and child arrangements orders but might be available for mediation if certain criteria is met?

My first question would be where do I start with this whole process.

    Any advice is much appreciated.

    Hi Dusty

from what I understand I think what you are saying is correct, unless there is DV (court costs maybe subsidised/covered). When I attended mediation, I discussed applying for legal aid with the mediator so that might be the way forward for you. I would recommend you contact the mediation company you plan to use and ask them directly. Hope that helps
